How do I add a cookbook?
Go to the Cookbooks tab, tap the + button, then scan your cookbook's barcode or search by title. We support thousands of cookbooks.
How do I scan my kitchen ingredients?
Navigate to the Kitchen tab, select a section (Fridge, Freezer, or Pantry), and tap the camera icon. Our AI will automatically recognize ingredients from your photo.
What does the "For You" section show?
The For You section displays recipes sorted by how many ingredients you already have. The percentage shows the match between your kitchen inventory and recipe requirements.
Can I save recipes from TikTok?
Yes! When viewing a cooking video on TikTok, tap Share, then select Book-a-Cook. Our AI will extract the recipe title, ingredients, and instructions automatically.
How do I create a shopping list?
Go to Favorites, tap + List on recipes you want to cook, then tap Generate Shopping List. The app will combine ingredients and check what you already have.
How do I sync data across devices?
Create an account or sign in with your existing account. Your cookbooks, kitchen inventory, and favorites will automatically sync across all your devices.
What's included in the Premium subscription?
Premium unlocks unlimited AI scans, unlimited recipe extractions from TikTok, advanced recipe matching, and removes all usage limits.
🔧 Troubleshooting
- App is running slowly: Try closing and reopening the app, or restart your device. Make sure you have the latest version installed.
- Camera not working: Check that Book-a-Cook has camera permission in Settings → Book-a-Cook → Camera.
- Sync issues: Ensure you're signed in to your account and have a stable internet connection. Pull down on any screen to force a refresh.
- Cookbook not found: Try searching by ISBN number or the exact title. Some older or regional cookbooks may not be in our database.
- AI not recognizing ingredients: Take photos in good lighting with items clearly visible. Avoid blurry images or cluttered backgrounds.
